2011 CENSUS OF FOREIGN CAPITAL IN BRAZIL

Since 1996, the Brazilian Central Bank held every five years the Census of Foreign Capitals in the country, in order to collect statistical information about the country´s external indebtedness, which includes foreign direct investment and foreign credits – debt contracted by Brazilian based entities with non-resident lenders in order to improve the quality of existing information about the inflow of foreign capital in the Brazilian economy. 

On October 3, 2011 the Brazilian Central Bank began the 2011 Census of Foreign Capitals in the country, which must be performed by a declaration by the legal entities listed in the Central Bank Circular No. 3.559. until November 1, 2011, 8 P.M. The legal entities who fail to provide such declaration, provide it incorrectly or after the deadline will be subject to a fine up to $ 250,000.00 (two hundred and fifty thousand dollars).
