The stock options plans have been increasingly common in Brazilian executives’ compensation. Usually offered to officers, the compensation policies are granted due to the achievement of company goals or to certain time period with the company. In this Newsletter prepared by Almeida Advogados is discussed the importance of granting stock options as a way of facilitating the alignment of the executives interest with those of the shareholders, encouraging them to improve the company’s business, as well as the need of a well structured stock options plan, in order to remove from it those characteristics that may constitute labor remuneration, being the matter restricted to corporate law.
